Artists Residency at Le Bas Bleu
In low season, from November 1, 2025 to April 2, 2026.
A place to create, reflect and connect
Château Le Bas Bleu welcomes writers, visual artists, musicians, performers, and creators of all disciplines. Nestled in a quiet, historic setting, at just 1.5 hours from Paris, 200km from Brussels, and less than 100km form Calais (ferry or shuttle to London), the residency offers time, space, and inspiration for artistic work away from daily distractions.
As an artist myself, I know how essential it is to find a place where creativity can unfold without pressure. My wish is to share the château with fellow creators, especially emerging voices of young artists who may benefit most from dedicated time and space to develop their practice.
Katharina Crespo – Founder and Permanent Resident
Our values
Artistic Freedom
The residency is self-directed: no imposed program, only the freedom to create.
Spacious Beauty
The Napoléon III château, with its elegant rooms and charming exteriors, offers an enchanting environment for focus, exploration, and rest.
Connexion& respect
Residents live alongside one another and can share ideas, doubts and experiences while respecting each other’s privacy and difference.

For Whom
The residency is open to artists of all disciplines and backgrounds. We especially encourage emerging and young creators seeking time to focus on a project, experiment, or reconnect with their practice.
Every residency ends with a residency showcase or presentation in collaboration with the association “La Vie de Château”. It is a free public event which allows for the artist to share their work at the stage it has reached and for our local audience to discover the artistic creations the chateau hosts. After the showcase, a shared drink or meal with the audience encourages exchanges in an informal relaxed setting.
Why Here
The château is more than a backdrop: it is part of the creative experience. Its history, gardens, and solitude offer a unique setting that invites both productivity and contemplation. By staying here, artists also contribute to keeping this historic place alive as a home for culture and imagination.
