Lou Andreas-Salome
Louise von Salomé or Lioulia von Salomé or Louíza Gustavovna Salomé, known as Lou Andreas-Salomé, born February 12, 1861 in Saint Petersburg and died February 5, 1937 in Göttingen, is a German-Russian woman of letters and one of the first female psychoanalysts.
Muse of Nietzsche, Rilke, Freud and pioneer of feminism, Lou is a free and eccentric woman.
In her autobiographical novel “The House”, she explores the grandeurs and miseries of the marital relationship. Freud gave her a nickname that perfectly sums up her being: “the understanding one”.
